Technical Assistance Provider / General Contractor

About 3C:

Miami Homes For All is leading the Miami arm of the Connecting Capital to Community (3C) program. The goals of the 3C program in Miami are to prevent displacement in Black neighborhoods within the City of Miami by connecting small local developers and property owners with community support, technical assistance, and pre-development funding that can help them access the subsidies set aside to fund housing affordability by the City, County, State and Federal agencies. Each developer will receive a grant from 3C, technical assistance, and neighborhood liaison to help their project.

Position: Development Technical Assistance Provider

Location: Miami-Dade County

Type: Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with 3C small developers to understand their project requirements and goals. 

  • Conduct site visits and assess the general needs of projects. Assist developers in defining their scope of work and project specifications. Work with 3C Pipeline Consultant to finalize phased scopes of work for each project. 

  • Analyze existing plans and documents to identify potential technical challenges.

  • Assist developers with sourcing and evaluating quotes from contractors, suppliers, and vendors.

  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to developers on selecting the most suitable quotes for their projects.

  • Negotiate with contractors to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms for the developers.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the progress and quality of ongoing projects.

  • Act as a liaison between developers and contractors, facilitating effective communication and problem resolution.

  • Help developers move their projects through permitting requirements, departmental oversight, waivers, warrants, and certificates. 

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining options, cost estimates, and technical considerations as needed.

Submission Requirements:

Interested consultants should submit the following information as part of their quotation:

  • Consultant's qualifications, including relevant experience in construction project management or general contracting, ideally in the City of Miami.

  • Cost estimate for the consulting services, including applicable hourly rates or fixed fees.

  • References from previous clients or projects.

Evaluation Criteria:

Quotations will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Consultant's expertise and experience in the construction and real estate industry.

  • Approach to providing technical assistance and support to small developers.

  • Demonstrated ability to source quotes, negotiate, and provide sound recommendations.

  • Cost-effectiveness of the proposed consulting services.

  • Hourly rate

Internship

About the Position

MHFA is looking for a Policy and Legislative Intern who will:

  • Commit at least 10 hours per week (Interns may work remotely).

  • Research best practices and policies that will be effective in the near to medium term to help vulnerable populations (this includes both youth and adults experiencing homelessness and those at risk of experiencing homelessness). 

  • Tracking and compiling ongoing efforts and resource development. This includes, but is not limited to, tracking services and direct assistance and connecting the same to ongoing efforts and/or households in need. 

  • Tracking data as it arises around unemployment, evictions, foreclosures, and homelessness. 

  • Support Executive Director and Youth Homelessness Director in preparing quarterly newsletter. 

  • Work on other assigned, related duties.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required. Currently enrolled in master-level or law degree program preferred.

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Experience in and/or a demonstrated commitment or interest in social justice issues.

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and creatively with cross-sector stakeholders.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with a wide and diverse group of individuals and community groups.

  • Excellent work ethic and integrity.

  • Demonstrated time and project management skills, including an ability to meet multiple deadlines. 

  • Excellent computer and social media skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, Canva, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and G-Suite. Adobe CC a plus.

  • If located in Miami, should possess a valid Florida Driver License and car or the ability to travel in and around Miami-Dade County, FL for meetings and other events. NOTE: This is not a requirement and will not preclude your application from being considered.

Compensation

Volunteer. Unfortunately, MHFA cannot offer a stipend, but is happy to support students’ applications for funding through their schools or other grants.
