We’re proud to announce the launch of our 2024 breakfast meeting series, where we’ll team up with residents, practitioners, and stakeholders to share insights and gain perspective on the most timely, pressing, and intersectional housing solutions of the day.

The programming includes a two-pronged approach. Each quarter, MHFA and partners will host a resident engagement meeting, providing a forum to share housing needs, concerns, and timely solutions. We will then summarize this discussion and meeting results to share at a housing stakeholder breakfast, where a panel of experts will also discuss best-in-class solutions to today’s housing concerns. Each breakfast will cover housing and an intersecting issue, starting with climate. The series is intended to bridge the gap not only between issues that are interrelated, but also between residents and decision-makers. Ultimately, this series will propel implementation of the most effective solutions that address the real experiences of residents with housing struggles. Thank you to our generous sponsors The Knight Foundation, Bradesco, and Coral Rock Development Group.

Voices of home

Bridging communities for affordable housing

These gatherings serve as an open forum where we encourage residents to explore and share their perspectives on the most timely and pressing intersectional housing topics.

For our first session, we discussed Housing & Climate, as it relates to residents’ lived experience. In collaboration with local climate champions, we shed light on climate-related housing challenges such as flooding, extreme heat, and the resilience required to manage their effects.

A heartfelt thank you to all the residents that attended and to our presenters:

Desitni Smith Director of Popular Education and Grassroots Leadership at Catalyst Miami

Jen Posner Deputy Executive Director of the University of Miami’s Climate Resilience Academy

Jason Grant, Ph.D., CEM, DGCP, LEED AP, ENV SP Senior Energy Resilience Program Manager of the Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience
